Actor Daniel Stern of Home Alone fame is releasing a memoir. The memoir is titled Home and Alone. In it he reveled that he requested a higher salary for his participation in the Home Alone sequel. Stern was paid $300,000 for the first Home Alone. In the film, Stern played a character named Marv Murchins, a notorious bandits who accompanied his fellow Bandit Harry Lyme, played by Joe Pesci, to rob a well-to-do family house.

Here is a quote from Stern's memoir on requesting a pay raise:
“I got a call saying they had redone the shooting schedule, and they would now need me for eight weeks instead of six,” he wrote. “They were asking me to add on 33 percent more shooting time, so I asked if they were going to raise my salary the same amount, and they said they would not.”
Requesting for a higher salary ultimately made a shift in the Home Alone sequel film. Stern Stern received a phone call later on, with producers expressing their desire for him to come back to the project. The studio assured the seasoned actor that they would uphold the initial agreement and adjust the filming schedule to be six weeks in duration.
In the beginning, the actor was presented with an offer of $600,000 for the sequel. He expressed his thoughts by saying, "Increase my pay twofold, although it falls short of the treasure I was anticipating." Stern asked whether this amount matched what Pesci was earning. It was confirmed to him that Pesci was earning higher than that. Stern managed to negotiate with the studio to raise his salary to $800,000, only to later find out that Pesci was actually earning "somewhere between $2,000,000 and $3,000,000 plus a percentage of the profits."
During negotiations, Stern's representative told him to accept the modest pay offered, yet they eventually split due to the actor's desire for higher earnings. Stern proposed $1.5 million and a 2 percent share of the overall revenue. Although the studio eventually agreed to the salary requested, they only granted him 1 percent of the gross profits.
There's a whole lot more in the memoir, including his experience working with former child actor Macaulay Culkin who played the lead character Kevin McCallister. Home and Alone by Daniel Stern is available wherever books are sold
