Sony Pictures has joined the development of the adaptation of best-selling novel titled 'The Silent Patient'. The studio partners with Annapurna pictures and Plan B, who are set to produce the film. The novel is written by Alex Michaelides. The project is being fast-tracked, with plans to appoint a director in the coming months.
The 2019 novel debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times Bestseller list and remained there for over 200 weeks. The novel has sold over 12 million copies worldwide and has been translated and published in a record-breaking 51 countries.
