The project reunites Landon with Grady Hendrix following Landon's work as a producer on the Amazon Studios adaptation of Hendrix's My Best Friend's Exorcism.
Paramount Pictures is also developing Hendrix’s novella Bad Asstronauts as a feature, with Todd Garner and Goldworm attached to produce. Hendrix will serve as an executive producer on the project.
Here is the book synopsis of "The Final Girl Support Group" by Grady Hendrix:
In classic slasher films, the "final girl" is the lone survivor who defeats the killer and lives to see the end credits. But survival is only the beginning. What happens after the nightmare is over?
Following the success of The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, Grady Hendrix delivers another thrilling blend of horror, suspense, and dark humor with The Final Girl Support Group. Packed with nods to iconic slashers like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Scream, the novel both celebrates and cleverly reinvents the conventions of the genre.
Lynnette Tarkington knows what it means to be a final girl. After surviving a brutal massacre, she spends years attending a support group alongside five other women who endured similarly unimaginable horrors. Together, they struggle to rebuild lives forever changed by violence. But when one member suddenly disappears, it becomes clear that someone has discovered the group's existence—and is determined to make them relive their worst nightmares.
