As we enter into black history month I want to show you a couple pics from the movie that I mentioned when I talking about Ms. Lena King. I can't wait for you to see what we created in honor of all of these black women whose contribution was totally ignored for decades.
Actress Kerry Washington joined in as well as she posted a photo along with a message: now entering #blackhistorymonth. First look at SIX TRIPLE EIGHT.
The film will be released on Netflix. Perry wrote the screenplay, which is based on an article written by historian Kevin M. Hymel. The article was published in WWII History Magazine by Sovereign Media. Oprah Winfrey along with Ebony Obsidian, are cast member of the feature film. More cast members include Milauna Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantay, Sarah Jeffery, Pepi Sonuga, Jay Reeves, Moriah Brown, Baadja-Lyne Odums and Gregg Sulkin, along with Dean Norris, Sam Waterston and Susan Sarandon.
Six Triple Eight tells the inspiring true story of the only all-Black, all-female battalion during World War II. It details the experience of a group of women who joined the war effort and were assigned the incredible task of fixing the three-year backlog of undelivered mail----all while facing discrimination, strange surroundings, and the experience of living in a country at war.
Below this post are two social media posts from both Tyler Perry and Kerry Washington. They are from last year's sneak peak of the film during Black History Month.
