I'll like for everyone to take a look into the world that Ms. Lani Sarem created in Handbook for Mortals. As you can see from the trailer you'll experience romance, adventure, and intrigue. So take this time to get to know the latest author here at novelpro.weebly.com...
1. Could you tell me about yourself?
Sure what would you like to know? I'm an actress, writer, producer and former band manager. I've been in the entertainment business since I was 15.
2. Could you give a brief summary about the first book to Handbook for Mortals series?
It's about a young woman to goes to Las Vegas to work for a magic show...but she can do REAL magick. Her mom reads tarot cards and her wish is to just get to have a somewhat normal life. There's also some danger and love triangle.
3. What makes Handbook for Mortals series different from other YA fantasy novels?
Well it's not actually a YA book I guess even though the NY times labeled it that...the characters are in their 20's...but besides that I think there are some cool twists that you will find in the book that you don't see I think in a lot of other books...but you gotta read it to find out.
4. How many books would be in the series?
Right now there are 5 planned...but I could see it going to 7...gonna see how it's going by book 4.
5. First of all, congratulations on your book getting optioned, will you be involved in the production in any way?
Thanks and yes I'm producing the film with Thomas Ian Nicholas...and I just may be playing a part as well! :)
6. Would you like to make a cameo in the film adaptation?
I'm pretty sure that will be happening! :)
7. Which author would you love to invite over and chat with?
Can it be anyone? dead or alive? if either than Charles Bukowski or CS Lewis...if alive than Neil Gaiman or Joyce Maynard.
8. Why did you decide to choose this genre as your first novel?
Magic is and has always been a big part of my life...so I gravitate to that and I love stories about shows and the crews behind the shows...
9. What is your greatest accomplishment so far?
This book probably...I'm pretty proud of it...
10. What book (besides yours) do you think everyone should read before he or she dies?
The chronicles of Narnia....I know that's a series but I can't really pick one out of that.
11. In what way did being an actress help you write the first book to Handbook for Mortals?
I think I can think about what it's like to BE someone else and write about that. Not everyone knows how to think as someone else...but as actors, we have to...
12. Could you explain the situation about your novel and its removal from the New York Times best-seller list?
Well, I'm the only person that's ever had that happen to them...people jumped to a lot of conclusions without all the facts and then started saying things that weren't even close to being true...I hope people will take the time to understand what really happened and enjoy the book for what it is....
13. For those who haven’t heard of your book Handbook for Mortals, why do you think he or she should get it?
If you like fun urban fantasies and both kinds of magic(k)....then you will love story...
14. Last question, if you could have supernatural power for a day, what would it be and why?
That's a tough one...being able to print money sounds fun or travel back in time! but I might actually pick reading peoples minds cause I'd really love to know what some people are REALLY thinking :)
I really like to thank Ms. Lani Sarem for answering those questions. If you find her novel interesting you can get the book Handbook for Mortals where books are sold. Thanks for visiting my blog once again and I hope you come back again. Take care:)
"Chins up Smile on"
"Chins up Smile on," Why???? because the teaser to catching fire is finally here:)
Here is the plot line from wikipedia:
Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way, Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever.
I have to say the teaser of catching fire was much better than the teaser of the first movie. I remember the first movie being extremely short and pointless. This one, catching fire, showed alot more although leaving alot away as well. i like that they showed the prime characters from film one and not the new casts of catching fire. I bet they are leaving the introduction of the new casts or rather the former victors for a longer, grander trailer (which i hope would be release sooner, perhaps in late May, early June). It looks like Catching Fire is following the same style from The Hunger Games which is a good thing and a bad thing depending on how the entire movie would turn out. Good thing being that it's sticking with the gritty, reality of the world. It has a familar feel to what we're used to from the first movie. However what i meant by "Bad thing" is that it might become boring to see the same style of filming. if it has the same filming style and has nothing new to the table then it would become tedious (for lack of a bettter word). I thought the brilliant point in the teaser was the conversation between President Snow and Plutarch Heavensbee. I hope you enjoy the teaser, and i can't wait to see the full trailer.
Man November seems so far away but as we all know time flies. Before you know it the movie would be here.
P.S. My interview with the author of' "WHEN EARTHLINGS WEEP'' Michael Barnett would be posted on April 23. I hope you check that out!!!
Like i stated from my previous posting, i will be posting a clue per month on book one of the christmas series which is coming ouin December 2012. I posted one clue in January( you can click it here: http://novelpro.weebly.com/4/post/2012/01/first-clue-to-book-one-of-the-christmas-series.html). So here is the second clue and it's a....... refrigerator. Now why would a refrigerator be important? Is it even important? is something important stored inside the refrigerator? Some kind of food perhaps or something else. Maybe an object or maybe it's just empty? What is your guess. Why would a refrigerator be the second clue? After all it's a box that we store what we eat, to make sure it's fresh ( and this christmas tale, by the way, would be fresh and original to you all, i promise). So that's my second clue, see you next month for the next clue on book one of the christmas series. I haven't reveal the title of book one yet but i will some day. Bye for now and have a great weekend.
This novel will come out in December 2012 ( I know that seems like a long time but trust me it will come sooner than you think) The first book's tilte in the series haven't been revealed yet on my blog( although i know what the title is). I will reveal in the future but lately i've been focusing on the sequel of House Trap. I just want my fans to get a taste of info on book one of the christmas series because i believe this story is an exciting project for me. In my hearts of hearts i think this story would be a christmas classic like those i mentioned at the "the christmas series" section of my blog.
Okay the first clue that i will reveal is....a picture of a snowglobe. Now everyone knows snowglobe is an item that one has as a christmas decoration. It would be part of my story in book one. Any suggestion to why it might be important, how it would relate to a christmas story? Your guess might be close to the truth. I can't say anymore than that. In my later posting i will reveal more clues through pictures about book one of the christmas series to keep you guessing. Thanks for reading this and come again:)......oh also share my posting with someone that might like to read this or love reading novels in general.
One of the most successful movie franchise in history is coming to an end. And to celebrate the closing of a beloved franchise i want to rate the trailers of all eight harry potter movies. Now some trailer might come from the same movie and the reason for this is because the trailers for this particular part of the movie was really good and overshadowed a mediocre trailer/teaser from another movie. I would just say right now that none of the trailer or teaser from Harry Potter and the Chamber of secret made it on my list. This is because there were so many great trailers from the other movies that the second movie's teaser/trailer wasn't good enough to make it on the list.
My judgment is based on the trailer/teaser only, not how the movie was overall, not how the movie was exactly or not exactly like the book. This is solely based watching the trailer and how it captured my attention, how the music convey emotion to the viewer, how enticing the trailer make me want to watch the movie(regardless of whether the movie was bad or not). So here is my top ten trailer/teaser. It's range from 10 to 1 as the number one would be the most favorite, the best trailer/teaser of all the movies. Leave a comment on what you think about it or whether you agree or disagree with the numbering or whether my number one pick was your number one pick. So again, this is my farewell tribute to the Harry Potter Series as the final chapter of a wonderful franchise would come to a close at July 15,2011.
UPDATE: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 made $168.6 millon in North America its first three days, surpassing the Dark Knight opening weekend. I hope that this isn't the last time a movie based on a book will do this well. Harry potter shouldn't be the only book-based movie to have these numbers, i hope that many people check out more movies based on books( and, likewise, l hope that more books made into movies are made well like the harry potter series).
