The incident happened four years ago.
Harris entered a guilty plea back in August of 2022 for conspiracy charge. She did not denied the fact that she accepted $20,000 out of the $40,000 paid by Project Veritas for personal belongings belonging to Ashley Biden, the president's daughter. Harris apologized for her role in the sale of Ashley Biden's private writings after stumbling upon the diary and other items at a friend's residence in Delray Beach, Florida, in 2020. Prosecutors revealed that Ashley Biden had entrusted her possessions there in the spring of that year, believing they would be safe.
Judge Swain, revealed that Harris and her accomplice, Robert Kurlander, had attempted to sell Ashley Biden's belongings (such as her diary, digital storage card, books, clothing, and luggage) to President Donald Trump's 2020 campaign. Swain said that Harris was driven by greed and a desire to influence the political scene in the country.
Both Harris and Kurlander pleaded guilty to transporting stolen property across state lines. Harris's defense attorney, Anthony Cecutti, argued against a prison sentence, highlighting her difficult past and dedication to caring for her children amidst abuse and violence. But, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Sobelman pushed for a prison term, denouncing Harris for repeatedly disregarding the law and justice system.
Harris was ordered to report to prison in July.
