After spending a few days in a juvenile detention center, authorities concluded that he had acted in self-defense. Tarek was released and placed under house arrest. However, he confesses that this particular incident was not even the most severe of his youthful escapades.
Here is Tarek's statement explaining more about his life:
"While this incident had serious consequences for me, it was not the most extreme encounter I've faced. I have been involved in shootings, knife fights, and even been struck in the face with a baseball bat. You name it, and I've likely experienced it."
Tarek first documented many more of these incidents in early versions of his book, but they were removed during the editing process.
"They excluded several others from the book... It seems they wanted to avoid depicting an excessive amount of violence."
However, he believes it is essential to disclose his past experiences:
"It is a part of my personal journey." According to him, we are all shaped by our surroundings, and he grew up in a challenging environment. To succeed in such circumstances, one has to make certain choices. Moreover, he emphasizes that being transparent about his beginnings allows him to demonstrate to readers the immense potential of the human spirit when coupled with the right mindset. He explains, "Right now, you could be involved in criminal activities, but you have the power to transform your life. Anyone can change; they just need to have the desire to do so."
Tarek El Moussa is not worried about his three children discovering his past mistakes. (daughter Taylor, 13, son Brayden, 8, with his ex-wife Christina Hall, and another son named Tristan, 1, with his current wife, Heather Rae El Moussa.) Here is his statement about that:
"In their lives, they will encounter difficult times, and it won't always be easy. When faced with hardships, they must be prepared to fight and persevere."
His book will be available where books are sold on Tuesday, February 6th.
