The true story was an article that was published in Vanity Fair's February 1997 issue. Ms. Marie Brenner wrote the article. The article was about the life of Richard Jewell, a security guard whose world was forever changed when he discovered a questionable backpack in the Olympics grounds. He acted by clearing the perimeter which saved a lot of people. He was seen as a hero but that didn't last long. He became the suspect as word spread, by a reporter, that law enforcement are accusing him of planting the bomb. Eventually Mr. Jewell was found innocent but the damage was already done. Later in his life he became an officer but sadly he died of a heart attack at the age of 44.
So far there haven't been any casting news, but, a while ago, when the studio wanted to get this movie in development, Mr. Jonah Hill was to play Richard Jewell. Leonardo Dicaprio was to play Jewell's lawyer. Mr. Clint Eastwood hopes to start shooting the dramatic true story this summer.
