Genesis:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was filmed alongside Part 1 between February 19, 2009, and June 12, 2010, with additional filming for the epilogue completed in December 2010. Director David Yates described the film as more colorful, fantasy-driven, and epic in scale, featuring large battle sequences.
The decision to split the final book into two films came from executive producer Lionel Wigram, who believed the story needed more time to be told properly. Although producer David Heyman was initially unsure, he agreed after revisiting the novel and discussing the idea with screenwriter Steve Kloves.
Box Office:
Before its release, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was widely expected to break box office records due to the excitement surrounding the series finale. The film earned $1.342 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2011, the most successful Harry Potter film, and the highest-grossing book adaptation at the time. It also set several box office records, including the biggest worldwide opening weekend, and became one of the fastest films to reach $1 billion in global earnings.
