Sloane Caraway (Shailene Woodley) has a habit of lying.
Nothing too serious—just small, harmless fabrications that make her ordinary life feel a little less ordinary.
So when she spots a young girl crying in the park one afternoon, Sloane can’t resist. Claiming to be a nurse, she steps in to help remove a bee stinger from the girl’s foot—and catches the attention of the girl’s handsome father in the process.
That single lie changes everything.
Soon, Sloane finds herself working as a nanny for Jay and Violet Lockhart (Kit Harington and Lindsay Lohan respectively): wealthy, polished, and seemingly perfect. They have the enviable New York life—a beautiful brownstone, a daughter enrolled in private school, and summers spent on Block Island.
But perfection is often an illusion.
As Sloane becomes entwined in the Lockharts’ world, she begins to realize she may not be the only one hiding the truth. Beneath the carefully curated façade lies something far darker and more dangerous. Revealing more would spoil the twists of this razor-sharp, addictive thriller.
Because lies have a way of multiplying. They blur reality, create new truths, and trap us in worlds of our own making. In Count My Lies, Sophie Stava delivers a gripping psychological suspense novel filled with secrets, deception, and the unsettling dangers lurking beneath the lives we work so hard to maintain.
Be careful what you lie for.
FYI: Katherine LaNasa plays the role of Tracy, who is Sloane Caraway's mother.
