Mandalay Television is developing an adaptation of Raven Kennedy’s fantasy book series "Plated Prisoner" into a TV series. There are currently six books in the series: Gild, Glint, Gleam, Glow, Gold, and Goldfinch. For now, Mandalay Television will begin shopping the project to the market in the coming months.

Kate Rorick is set to serve as showrunner. Mandalay Television Development Executive, Vanessa Johnston, shepherded the series. The book series is a fresh twist on the story of King Midas and his ability to turn everything he touches into gold. Gild was first self-published by Kennedy in October 2020 followed by Glint in January 2021, Gleam in May 2021 and Glow in June 2022 with Gold released in 2023 and Goldfinch in 2024. The book series became a viral sensation on Instagram’s Book Club and BookTok.

Here is the goodreads synopsis of Gild (Book One) by Raven Kennedy:

Locked away in King Midas' kingdom, I have never known freedom.

They say it's for my own safety, but now I'm not so sure.

Because when political upheaval sees me sent to travel across kingdoms, everything I thought I knew about King Midas is shattered . . .

The world has only ever heard his story.

Now it's time to hear mine.
