I heard so much about this movie yet I haven't seen it. I will watch it one day( i have the DVD) and write my review here. But I just wanted to blog about this in advance. I believe the movie is one that everyone should watch and i will watch it one day. So keep checking my blog for update on this and other stuff that i usually write about. It looks like a unique and fresh film to watch (not too hollywood-ish or unoriginal). So it got my interest there. Here is a TV spot of the movie:
"You're my friend, kind of."
If you've seen the movie then you'll know when Hushpuppy said this quote. It was also my favorite scene in the movie( I love how she came face to face with the Aurochs). I think Quvenzhané Wallis did an excellent job and I could see why the movie got the recognition. She narrated the story quite beautifully. You can't help but be involved in the journey that she took till the very end of the movie. When the movie ended, I wondered what would happen to Hushpuppy, what she would grow up to be, and (SPOILER ALERT, don't read the next sentence) how she dealt with her father's death afterward or even how her life would change without him in her life.
Overall it was a well-told story and although I didn't agree with her father staying to ride the storm, I still think that his decision made for an intriguing story( but in real life please don't stay if there's a great storm coming to your town to flood it. Leave and leave sooner rather than later.) I love how the community Hushpuppy lived in celebrate and look out for each other ( I wish more neighborhoods could be like this). They cared for one another despite their situations. I thought their care for each other was captured wonderfully or rather magically at the beginning and end of the movie. The movie is shot in a documentary-style and might not be for everyone because of that (also a few scenes may be disturbing for young/adult viewers alike) but it's something new, an original story-telling experience, and above all a noteworthy look into a life of a little girl from southern Louisiana bayou....
P.S. Beasts of The Southern Wild is based on a short story by Doris Betts. The full title of the book is called Beasts of the Southern Wild and Other Stories. It was written in 1973. The collection was nominated for a 1974 National Book Award.... I hope more books would be made into movies....perhaps and hopefully House Trap:).....I'm just saying:) anyways thanks for reading my review on Beast of the southern wild. I hope you keep coming here to read what i have to write next. Take Care!!!
P.S.S. Just wanted to add that I love the theme song of this movie. It fitted the mood and the situation quite well.
The movie of the summer 2012 is soon here: The Dark Knight Rises. This is one of the main movies i wanted to watch this summer. I can't wait to see it but it's sad that it might not break the box office numbers. ( the only reason being that it's not in 3D). But the numbers aren't important anyway, it's the quality of the movie that counts. I hope the third movie would be good like toy story 3 and not bad like The Godfather 3. To make a third movie is always difficult because you are trying to summarize the trilogy yet maintain what the audience liked about the first two movie. So i can't wait to see what Mr. Nolan has to offer. I hope things ends well in the trilogy and I pray that Anne Hathaway doesn't screw up the movie (I don't think she was a good choice to be Catwoman. I can think of a few woment hat might be right for that part but yeah i might be wrong.....i hope i'm wrong for her sake. So that's my little chit-chat about the dark knight rises. i can't wait to see how it turns out and i hope this isn't the end of batman even though this trilogy is coming to an end. I really do hope another Batman movie is in the works. There's so many villains that need to come to the screen( i'm excluding the horrible movie that is Batman and Robin): The riddler, Poison Ivy, Clayface, Harley Quinn, The Penguin and ummm......The mad hatter, now that would be interesting villain. You see what i mean? so the batman movie can't just end with this trilogy. (Hey if Spiderman can get a reboot and succeed why not Batman:) Bye and have a great movie day tomorrow:)
Hey guys!!! it's that time again. It is time to write what the fourth clue is for The Christmas Series. I still haven't reveal the title of book one yet but i will sometime in the future. On each month(Jan, Feb, and Mar) i have posted a clue for what the book is about. Please check out my blog to see each of the clues if you are interested. So here is the fourth clue to the book one of the christmas series which is coming out in December 2012.......... it'a picture of Oatmeal Scotties. Yummy:) who doesn't like to eat cookies. A lovely treat for the christmas season.... i wonder who would eat such a treat hmmmmmm??? All you can do is guess for now but all will be revealed in December 2012 when you are able to get the story. Have a lovely weekday and i hope April 2012 was a blast. I can't believe summer is so close..... oh summer we love thee:)
Hey guys!!! i've been hearing great things about the hunger games but i haven't checked out the movie yet. I was a bit disappointed to hear that the movie also had shaky camera moments but at least it was good overall. Okay back to what i'm posting about. Like i did on January and February, I'm going to post a clue on March that has to do with book one of the christmas series. You can search through my posting for the first two clues. This book is coming out on December 2012 and i truly believe it's an original christmas story that every one would love. So here is the third clue........ M&M. Now why would this be a clue? Look at it carefully and the name might hint to something or something else that isn't edible:) That's all i'm going to say for now. This is the third clue for March 2012. The fourth clue would be posted on April so until then see ya and i hope you keep checking out my blog because i have an announcement to make in the near future. It's both a good news and a bad news. I will also update you on a writing project that i've newly started. So see you then:)
This novel will come out in December 2012 ( I know that seems like a long time but trust me it will come sooner than you think) The first book's tilte in the series haven't been revealed yet on my blog( although i know what the title is). I will reveal in the future but lately i've been focusing on the sequel of House Trap. I just want my fans to get a taste of info on book one of the christmas series because i believe this story is an exciting project for me. In my hearts of hearts i think this story would be a christmas classic like those i mentioned at the "the christmas series" section of my blog.
Okay the first clue that i will reveal is....a picture of a snowglobe. Now everyone knows snowglobe is an item that one has as a christmas decoration. It would be part of my story in book one. Any suggestion to why it might be important, how it would relate to a christmas story? Your guess might be close to the truth. I can't say anymore than that. In my later posting i will reveal more clues through pictures about book one of the christmas series to keep you guessing. Thanks for reading this and come again:)......oh also share my posting with someone that might like to read this or love reading novels in general.
All Series must come to an end there was the Harry Potter Series(which started the book phenomenon) Harry Potter and the deathly hallows was the end of that series( July 21,2007). Then came the twilight series and that ended with Breaking Dawn on Aug 2, 2008(US), Aug 4, 2008( UK, AUS). And now the inheritance Series or rather Cycle came to an end at Nov. 12, 2011 with the fourth book entitled Inheritance or the vaults of souls. These books all have loyal fans and of course would be saddened by their protagonist's journey coming to an end but as readers we always love to revisit the world from time to time.
Now on the subject of Christopher Paolini, I respect him as a writer and I applaud him for finishing the series that he started when he was in his teens. Like I stated in my previous post about his book i don't think he's a very good story-teller or his writing is up to par or his story isn't original but I still respect his effort and applaud him for getting young people to read. I wish him much success in his writing endeavors in the future. I believe his work could get better from here onward. He will write a book that everyone would come to appreciate and mark him as a great writer. So again I want to congratulate him on finishing the series( as i stated in my post writing isn't as easy as most people think and finishing one book is a big accomplishment let alone a series). He's probably taking a long break(which he should) before starting on a new project. I just hope he wouldn't wait as long as J.K. Rowling. Here is another youtube video. This one is the launching of his book.
Coming out November 23, 2011 is the film based on historical-fiction book by Brian Selznick. As I stated from my previous posting that i love to watch movies based on book. So hope you enjoy the trailer. I don't know how i feel about them deciding to shorten the title. I kind-of understand why it was shortened it because saying the title seems like a mouth full but it seem to separate itself from the book. It doens't seem like the movie is acknowledging the book appearance-wise but hopefully the movie stays faithful to the text.
Here is the synosis from wikipedia of the book (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Invention_of_Hugo_Cabret)
The book’s primary inspiration is the true story of turn-of-the-century pioneer filmmaker Georges Méliès, his surviving films, and his collection of mechanical, wind-up figures called automata. Selznick decided to add automatons to the storyline after reading Edison's Eve by Gaby Wood, which tells the story of Edison's attempt to create a talking wind up doll. Méliès actually had a set of automata, which were either sold or lost. At the end of his life Méliès was broke, even as films were screening widely in the US. He did work in a toy booth in a Paris railway station, hence the setting. Selznick drew Méliès's real door in the book. It is reported that Méliès did sell some of his films to a company where they were ultimately used to make heels for shoes.
I've seen alot of review from goodreads and the book seemed to be good to most of the reviewers.
One of the most successful movie franchise in history is coming to an end. And to celebrate the closing of a beloved franchise i want to rate the trailers of all eight harry potter movies. Now some trailer might come from the same movie and the reason for this is because the trailers for this particular part of the movie was really good and overshadowed a mediocre trailer/teaser from another movie. I would just say right now that none of the trailer or teaser from Harry Potter and the Chamber of secret made it on my list. This is because there were so many great trailers from the other movies that the second movie's teaser/trailer wasn't good enough to make it on the list.
My judgment is based on the trailer/teaser only, not how the movie was overall, not how the movie was exactly or not exactly like the book. This is solely based watching the trailer and how it captured my attention, how the music convey emotion to the viewer, how enticing the trailer make me want to watch the movie(regardless of whether the movie was bad or not). So here is my top ten trailer/teaser. It's range from 10 to 1 as the number one would be the most favorite, the best trailer/teaser of all the movies. Leave a comment on what you think about it or whether you agree or disagree with the numbering or whether my number one pick was your number one pick. So again, this is my farewell tribute to the Harry Potter Series as the final chapter of a wonderful franchise would come to a close at July 15,2011.
UPDATE: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 made $168.6 millon in North America its first three days, surpassing the Dark Knight opening weekend. I hope that this isn't the last time a movie based on a book will do this well. Harry potter shouldn't be the only book-based movie to have these numbers, i hope that many people check out more movies based on books( and, likewise, l hope that more books made into movies are made well like the harry potter series).
