The story revolves around a mysterious Union spy named James Andrews. Alongside a group of infantry volunteers, Andrews embarks on a mission to steal a Confederate steam engine and disrupt the Confederacy's entire supply line, with the ultimate goal of ending the war. They race through dangerous territory at speeds of up to 60 mph, destroying railroad tracks in their wake and severing telegraph lines to cut off communications. Their actions make them the first recipients of the esteemed Medal of Honor, presented to them by President Abraham Lincoln. This daring adventure served as the inspiration for Buster Keaton's iconic 1926 silent film, "The General."
